movie review - SHERLOCK HOLMES.

so, the first movie i watched this year is "SHERLOCK HOLMES". well, it's a blockbuster anyway, and my brother said it was worth to watch. so, why don't i? besides, robert downey jr. and jude law? pft! perfect combination! so, here's my review...

title: SHERLOCK HOLMES.

directed by: guy ritchie.

casts: robert downey jr. as sherlock holmes, jude law as john watson, etc.

review:
(not a spoiler)
after catching a weird sorcerer, lord blackwood, holmes and his partner of life watson made it clear. they solved the case and made lord blackwood death by suspension law. but, the mystery is yet still come. it appears that lord blackwood returns from the grave and make another chaos that he said earlier to holmes before his punishment. lord blackwood said that three more people will die after his death. and it happens. will holmes and watson succeed to stop lord blackwood? is it true that the one who returns from grave is lord blackwood? well, you have to see it for yourself. this movie is superb!

an awesome movie to watch, and believe me, this movie is smart! yet, great! the best movie to watch on this early 2010. it made me want to watch it again and again. it have a sequel too. i don't know when its gonna opens up, but i hope it's great like the first one. i'm waiting for it!!! :)

movie review - LAW ABIDING CITIZEN.

if i said earlier, i've never watch a movie recently, for this holiday i spent my days watching movies. almost every movie i saw. including this one, for me, it's the greatest unexpected movie i've ever seen. it's called, "LAW ABIDING CITIZEN". great movie, with a great casts to play. so, here's my review for the movie.

title: LAW ABIDING CITIZEN.

directed by: f. gary grey.

casts: jamie foxx as nick rice, gerard butler as clyde shelton, etc.

review:
(not a spoiler)
clyde (played by butler), lost his wife and daughter at a very tragic accident. his wife and daughter was murdered by two guys named arnes and darby. while ten years later, nick, the genius engineer made a revenge, but he don't like to be called as 'revenge' to his wife and daughter's death. while, nick, put him away on the jail and make him confess what clyde have done. but aside of that, clyde threaten nick, and make deals between both of them. if nick doesn't clear the deal, then something bad is gonna happen. and that what this movie all about. what can really happen if nick didn't obey him? and how can clyde blew up cars when he's in jail? you have to see it for yourself.

for me, it's a great movie, not a boring movie and of course, recommended much! i wanna watch it again if i can. maybe this is the last movie i saw in 2009. maybe. or, maybe tomorrow sherlock holmes will be out. well, we'll find out about that later.

movie review - AVATAR (in 3D).

it's been a long time since i last saw a movie. and i even forgot what's the last movie i watched. oh well. so, yesterday, i watched this movie called 'AVATAR'. the one that keeps everyone talking about, and people said it was worth to watch. then, i'll write what i want to say about this movie.

title: AVATAR.

directed by: james cameron.

casts: sam worthington as jake sully, zoe saldana as neytiri, sigourney weaver as grace austine, etc.

review:
(not a spoiler)
the movie took place in pandora, the land of the origins creature called Na'vi. those from earth finds it odds to live with them. because they have their own language and living life things. jake (played by worthington), after he lost his brother in war, decided to take his late brother mission. even though he's paraplegic, (simply, can't walk because his leg lost its function). the purpose he goes to this mission is to get more information about the Na'vi's woodland. for that mission, jake got a new identity called 'avatar' to able him to communicate with the Na'vi. and the story change after he met neytiri (played by saldana). wanna see the rest for yourself? go watch it!

well, for me, the greatest thing about this movie is the 3D effects. for the story, not so much. it's three hours straight and i'm bored to hell. the story lost and found its climax, so it's so hard for me to enjoy the rest of the movie. although, it's interesting, how the avatar's hair can connect to almost everything and controls them. i wish i can do that. haha. but, overall, it's james cameron's movie anyway. it turned out very great. and i'd like to give 9,5 for the graphic, and 7 for the story. i can't say 10, because nothing's prefect in this life right? :)

the distance - oliver james.

The sky has lost its color
The sun has turned to gray
At least that's how it feels to me
Whenever you're away

I crawl up in the corner
To watch the minutes pass
Each one brings me closer to
The time you're coming back

I can't take the distance
I can't take the miles
I can't take the time until I next see you smile
I can't take the distance
And I'm not ashamed
That with every breath I take I'm calling your name
I can't take the distance

I still believe my feelings
But sometimes I feel too much
I make believe you're close to me
But it ain't close enough
Not nearly close enough

I can't take the distance
I can't take the miles
I can't take the time until I next see you smile
I can't take the distance
And I'm not ashamed
That with every breath I take I'm calling your name
I can't take the distance

I'd breathe fire and I'd be free
To be by your side, I'd do anything
I can't take the distance

I will go the distance
I will go the miles
That's how much you mean to me

I can't take the distance
I can't take the miles
I can't take the time until I next see you smile
I can't take the distance
And I'm not ashamed
That with every breath I take I'm calling your name
I can't take the distance

tips to prevent the 'monday blues'.

so, here's what i've got from this month's readers digest. tips on how to prevent your monday blues. you know, everyone seems to hate waking up early in the monday morning. well, i do too. sleeping is the only thing i love the most at a time like this. plus, when it's raining in the morning, oh God, that is for me is what i called PERFECT LIFE! it's hard enough to open up your eyes, but it's even hard for me to face the truth that i'll go to a class on monday morning. it sucks, i know.

but i read this great article from readers digest and maybe i will try it on monday. or even tomorrow morning. oh well, we'll see it then.

BEAT THE SLEEPING HABBIT.
  • avoid the weekend 'recovery' - we should sleep eight hour a day, no more and no less. it's enough for you to sleep in one day. if you sleep like more than eight hours, the water on your body will not stand it. and we'll get dizzy. trust me, it is dizzy.
  • set a sleep-in limit - if you can, go to bed earlier on saturday night. automatically, on sunday you'll sleep early too.
  • get out into the sun - even if you're late to bed, get up within an hour past your weekday rise time. the morning sun will resets your body clock and your sleeping time will be back on track.
so, there it is, i hope it work. i never tried it though, but i'm sure i will, tomorrow. i guess. :)

well, good luck on trying that one!

last flight out - plus one.

I'm so scared that you will see
All the weakness inside of me
I'm so scared of letting go
That the pain I've hid will show

I know you want to hear me speak
But I'm afraid that if I start to
I'll never stop

I want you to know
You belong in my life
I love the hope
I see in your eyes
For you I would fly
At least I would try
For you I'll take
The last flight out

I'm afraid that
You will leave
As my secrets
Have been revealed
In my dreams
You'll always stay
Every breathing moment from now

I know you want to hear me speak
But I'm afraid that if I start to
I'll never stop

I want you to know
You belong in my life
I love the hope
I see in your eyes
For you I would fly
At least I would try
For you I'll take
The last flight out

I cannot hold back
The truth no more
I let you wait too long
Although it's hard and scares me so
A life without you scares me more

I want you to know
You belong in my life
I love the hope
I see in your eyes
For you I would fly
At least I would try
For you I'll take
The last flight out

vanilla twilight - owl city.

The stars lean down to kiss you

And I lie awake and miss you

Pour me a heavy dose of atmosphere

'Cause I'll doze off safe and soundly

But I'll miss your arms around me

I'd send a postcard to you dear

'Cause I wish you were here

I'll watch the night turn light blue

But it's not the same without you

Because it takes two to whisper quietly

The silence isn't so bad

Till I look at my hands and feel sad

'Cause the spaces between my fingers

Are right where yours fit perfectly

I'll find repose in new ways

Though I haven't slept in two days

'Cause cold nostalgia chills me to the bone

But drenched in vanilla twilight

I'll sit on the front porch all night

Waist-deep in thought because when I think of you

I don't feel so alone

I don't feel so alone

I don't feel so alone

As many times as I blink

I'll think of you tonight

I'll think of you tonight

When violet eyes get brighter

And heavy wings grow lighter

I'll taste the sky and feel alive again

And I'll forget the world that I knew

But I swear I won't forget you

Oh, if my voice could reach back through the past

I'll whisper in your ear

Oh, darling, I wish you were here

my current addiction to OWL CITY!

at first, i don't know anything about this band called 'owl city'. but after my brother downloaded it on my laptop, and i listen to his song called 'fireflies' and i think, this is great. the music is different, he has a unique voice, and he has the style that for me, new. it's like listening to that kind of pop beat type of song. but, the songs' lyrics are superb! i'm amazed with his music. it's different and new. and i love it!

you can check out his myspace account in here. click click.

be sure to hear his songs, i must say, it's the best, for his genre. hands down. :)

movie review - THIS IS IT.

three words, KING OF POP! michael jackson was an amazing person, also very inspiring. he inspired all the dancers around the world. who didn't know about him? and we all know that he already passed away on the 25th of june 2009, but he surely still lives among us. as an entertainer in this world.

at first, he made an announcement that he will have a concert in london on june, if i'm not mistaken, or july, i don't remember anyway, but, he passed away and this movie is all about the rehearsal that he was doing before the concert. this is the preparation that caught on camera, thanks to all the camera crew, they can bring us into the stage (when i saw this movie, i felt like i'm in the audience) we could feel how great he was. and the most important thing is, he was 50 years old when he rehearsed. but he surely know how to did the right moves. i think this is a present from him, his last performance for all of us, well, THIS IS IT.

i really don't know what to reviewed, because this is a documentary movie and you have to watch it if you want it. but i recommended this movie, if you like michael jackson. and until now, i still can't believe he's gone forever.

long live the KING OF POP.

RIP MICHAEL JOSEPH JACKSON (29 AUGUST 1958 - 25 JUNE 2009)

movie review - BANLIEUE 13 ULTIMATUM/DISTRICT 13 ULTIMATUM.

at first, i wanna watch 'this is it', michael jackson's movie, but, after a long thinking and i have to move from one mall to another, so me and my bf decided to watch this movie called 'district 13 ultimatum' (D13 U). the film is notable for its depiction of 'parkour' in a number of stunt sequences that were completed without the use of w
ires or computer effects. it's a french movie and if somehow you realize, or even had watch this movie, yes, it is the sequel of the 'district 13' movie. but i never watch the first sequel, so, it's a little bit confusing at first, but after you watch it carefully, you'll know the story.

title: 'BANLIEUE 13 ULTIMATUM/DISTRICT 13 ULTIMATUM'

directed by: patrick alessandrin.

casts: cyril raffaelli as damien tomaso, david belle as leito and other casts.

review:
(not a spoiler)
it happens in 2013, in france, district 13, they call it B13 in the movie. in B13 lives several race of people in there. for example, the chinese, moslem, negro, etc. and they lived under they own race. earlier,
3 years ago, the government made a promise to fix B13 into more 'human' to live on. but, whatreally happens is it never came true. and for worst, B13 is going to be demolished by the government. so, to save the B13, leito and damien have to do something about it. see what happens
for yourself.

it is a great movie, again, it doesn't matter whether you watch the first movie or not. but i must
tell you, look out for the first scene, at the beginning of this movie. and then, enjoy the show! :)

series review - glee.

so, i've been watching this series, called 'glee' and here's my review:

title: 'GLEE'

a high school spanish teacher becomes the director of the schools 'glee club', hoping to restore it to its former glory. so he decided to became the teacher and the choreographer for the club. will schuester (matthew morrison), the main character of this movie, also have a family, that is growing, and he have to make a choice between his career and his family. and the jocks, finn hudson (cory monteith) is struggling between his status as the famous football player and the membership of the 'glee club'. meanwhile there's rachel berry (lea michele) the girl in school that is always being bullied by almost everyone. but she have a big compassion for the 'glee club'. and there's lots of characters that will bring the new musical thing come back but in a different kinda way.

i already watch it until the third episode, and for me, 'glee' is great. it's like high school musical but way better! i can't wait to watch it again, also, cory monteith is cute! :p

taming your temper.

i've been reading 'Reader's Digest' lately. and i found out that this book have so many things that can taught me more than i used to know. so i decided to buy it every month. and i'm gonna share something, it could be anything, from every single edition. today i'm gonna share one thing, that, for me it's very useful. it's about taming your temper. i know a lot of people that have an anger problems. like they can't control their anger, so they do stuffs like fighting, smoking, drinking, etc. well, it's bad. and i'm wondering why they do that? okay, they want to wreak their anger, but that way? i'm telling you people, STUPID THINGS LIKE THAT ARE NOT THE ANSWER FOR ANY OF YOUR ANGER! when you realize something you've done, you'll regret it. what i'm trying to say here is, hey! there's lots of things you can do when you're in a bad mood, or even in a high temper. so, i'm gonna share you what i've got from reading 'Reader's Digest' this month.

  • EXERCISE - physical exertion can help for brief, short term anger. so, instead of drinking and fighting and other stupid stuff, why don't you exercise your body. besides, it's good for your health.
  • WRITE A LETTER - or a blog. when you can write almost anything that you wanna say. even though, you're not gonna send it to someone. trust me you won't.
  • COOL OFF - if you're out of control, you'll not confront the person straightaway. again, it'll not clear out the problems.
  • COMMUNICATE - sit down a bit, relax, buy a cup of coffee, thinking what are the problems, and you can talk to a person that is close to you. maybe they could help.
  • USE HUMOR - think about something very funny. that can make you laugh and forget about your anger for a bit. for me, it worked!
  • PROS AND CONS - think like this "is the anger achieving anything or is it just hurting me?"
  • PROBLEM-SOLVE - ask yourself, "is there anything i can do about this whole situation?
  • ACCEPTANCE - you have to know that somethings in this life just aren't fair enough for yourself. and we have to accept that, hey, it's all God's plan anyway.
so there it is. i hope this could work on those who have a very bad temper. but i have to tell you, it's all coming back to you all now. whether you want to change what you're thinking and do or you won't change a bit. i know it's hard to control your anger, but you have to try it first. like they said, "if there's a will, there's always a way."

give it a try! :)

movie review - GHOST OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST.

i think this movie will not being showed in my country. well, i don't know, but i'm pretty sure this movie is out on may 2009 in USA. so, i decided to bought the dvd instead of waiting for this to show in indonesia.

title: 'GHOST OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST'

directed by: mark waters.

casts: matthew mcconaughey, jennifer garner, michael douglas, etc.

review:
(not a spoiler)
Connor Mead, a successful photographer and a playboy goes to his younger brother's wedding, to convince him not to get marry. he arrives at his dead uncle's estate during the rehearsal wedding, and he met Jenny Perotti, his childhood friend. and then, he starts trashing out the wedding, later on in the men's room, his uncle, who taught him everything about women, appears to him as a ghost. and he confesses that he was wrong. his uncle told him that Connor will visited by three ghosts that night. the ghost of a girlfriends past, present and future. can he learn anything from his life and fix what he's broken? you have to saw it for yourself.

it is quite a boring story at the start, but once you find the story is catchy, and yet very romantic in the end, you'll not regret it. i never expected that a guy like Connor, can be a very romantic person after all. well, everyone have their own romantic side, but how they show it, that's the greatest part. :)

movie review - INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS.

i never quite catch a movie recently, i even forgot the last movie i watched. hmmm. i guess it's 'the ugly truth'. or else? oh well, moving on then. so, today i watched 'inglourious basterds' a movie by quentin tarantino the master of this kind of movie. and here's my review about that movie.

(brad pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine)

title: 'INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS' (they using 'inglourious' instead of 'inglorious' - the right spelling and of course, the 'basterds' too.)

directed by: quentin tarantino.

cast: brad pitt (who would refuse to watch this guy movies?!) and other casts that i'm not familiar with.

review:
(not a spoiler)
this film is taking place on paris, france on the year of NAZI's leading the france. it was Hitler, Goering, Gobbles and Bormann era. most of all in the movie, the year of the story was on 1944 if i'm not mistaken. so, this Lt. Aldo Raine (brad pitt) leads a group called 'inglourious basterds' where the group has one mission, is to kill all of the NAZI in france. as well as a girl named Shosanna, who is seeks for a revenge because her family is being killed by this NAZI Colonel that killed all the jewish people named Hans Landa. they both have the same mission and will it be a success? well, i'm not going to spoiled it over here. you have to watch it by yourself. this movie for me, maybe the best movie of 2009 so far. besides 'benjamin button' and others. but i have to admit it, brad pitt is the best person to portray Lt. Aldo Raine. this three hours movie didn't make me fell asleep, because of the story and the character on it. seriously guys, you'll not regret this movie. ever!

i want to watch it again if i can. :)

even though it's full of violence and cruelty, but that's what happens is the real era right? and this is a made up story anyway. and quentin tarantino made it. what else can you expect except that he always make a masterpiece! hands down!

so, i HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to watch it. with whoever it is, but don't forget to go to the bathroom before you watch it. :p three hours is long enough to hold back to your urine. haha.
